The Broward County School Board in Florida has sanctioned the 2024/2025 academic calendar for Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) during its meeting on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. This new calendar introduces an earlier start to the academic year and ensures the completion of the first semester prior to the winter holiday. The inaugural day for the 2024/2025 academic year is set for Monday, August 12, 2024.

- Last Day of School – Tuesday, June 3, 2025
BCPS Superintendent Dr. Peter B. Licata expressed his contentment regarding the new calendar for 2024/2025. "This calendar has been meticulously crafted to cater to the requirements of our pupils, their families, and our staff," he remarked. Dr. Licata added, "By initiating the semester sooner and finishing it before the winter holidays, we're optimistic that it will afford students and educators ample time to prepare for assessments and enjoy a well-deserved break before commencing the second semester."
The ratified calendar encompasses a week off during Thanksgiving, a two-week hiatus for the winter holidays, and a week's break in the spring. Additionally, it incorporates 10 days allocated for teacher preparation, scheduled days for provisional grades, final report cards, and holidays, as well as provisions for up to three days as contingencies for severe weather-related school closures, if necessary.
