South Florida officials have introduced the SoFloGO app, a new platform designed to bring together the region’s major transit systems into one convenient tool for residents and visitors.

Developed by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) in partnership with Broward County Transit (BCT), Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), and Palm Tran, the app makes it easier to plan trips and pay fares across the area’s primary networks.

SoFloGO App Connects Four Transit Systems Across South Florida

Developed by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) in partnership with Broward County Transit (BCT), Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), and Palm Tran, the app makes it easier to plan trips and pay fares across the area’s primary networks.

SoFloGO combines four major systems - Tri-Rail, BCT, Palm Tran, and DTPW’s Metrorail, Metrobus, and Metromover - into a single mobile experience. Riders can access multimodal trip planning, live bus and train arrival times, mobile ticketing, and service alerts all in one place.

The app also provides tools like deboarding reminders, turn-by-turn directions, and built-in accessibility features. These include screen reader compatibility and step-free routing options for travelers with mobility needs.

With South Florida’s population and tourism on the rise, officials say the app is an important step toward making transportation more efficient. By consolidating services across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, SoFloGO gives riders a streamlined way to navigate the region.

Key features of SoFloGO include:

  • Trip planning across buses and trains
  • Real-time tracking to cut down on wait times
  • Mobile ticketing for multiple agencies
  • Step-by-step guidance with live service updates
  • Accessibility options for riders with different needs

According to SFRTA, funding for the project came from the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Officials say the app is just the beginning. In only its first weeks after launching on August 11, 2025, SoFloGO has been downloaded more than 4,000 times. It was built using Moovit’s trip-planning technology and Genfare’s payment system, with tools that even allow passengers to send feedback directly through the app.

The rollout marks the result of nearly a decade of planning and coordination between agencies. Broward County Transit is now looking ahead to a $4.3 billion expansion, adding over 200 miles of new service and introducing light rail, bus rapid transit, and other high-capacity options. Leaders say they are also exploring future features for SoFloGO, such as ride-share integration, to keep improving mobility across South Florida
