Now, any student, educator, parent, or member of the public can report school safety concerns directly to law enforcement and school administrators anonymously and easily through the FortifyFL app or www.getfortifyfl.com. The app, which is available for download on Apple and Android mobile devices, is critical to ensuring all Florida schools are safe environments where students and educators can experience and share the joy of learning without fear. FortifyFL is a suspicious activity reporting tool that allows you to instantly relay information to appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials.

Why Are All School Required To Have Them On All Computers?

Pursuant to SB 7026, also known as the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act (MSDHSPSA), and SB 7030:

● All schools have FortifyFL on all school computers.
● All schools will PROMOTE the FortifyFL app on campus.

Reporting

Reporting threats: Any individual can anonymously make a report, whether it is
from their phone or a computer.

How To Report

To make a report locate the FortifyFL icon displayed to your left. The icon is available on all school computers.

False Reporting

Misuse - Though reporting is anonymous, law enforcement has the ability to track and identify the origin of false reporting. Any student who willfully and knowingly makes a false report or provides false information in a report, will be subject disciplinary action, which includes but is not limited to expulsion.

Pursuant to Florida Statute 1006.07:

Any student who is determined to have made a threat or false report, as defined by §§ 790.162 and 790.163, [F.S.], respectively, involving school or school personnel’s property, school transportation, or a school-sponsored activity will be expelled, with or without continuing educational services, from the student’s regular school for a period of not less than 1 full year and referred for criminal prosecution.”

For instances involving falsified reports involving bombs, explosives, or any incendiary device fall under Bomb Threat in the Student Code of Conduct and is an expellable offence.

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act (SB 7026) requires a mandatory mental health services referral for students who commit the following infractions: (1) any student who is determined to have made a threat or false report.
